FALLING IN LOVE? WE'VE HARDLY STARTED!
Mending Dr Will's broken heart could be a long job reveals actress
Shelagh McLeod
You can almost hear a collective sigh of relief around the
nation as the charming Will Preston and stunning, dark-haired fellow physician
Kate Webster finally make it plain they're in love.
After all the pain and sorrow Peak Practice's favourite medic has been through
with his marriage break-up, surely that's what the good doctor deserves...
The actress putting a smile back on those gorgeous lips, 36-year-old Shelagh
McLeod, couldn't wait to work with her old pal Simon Shepherd who plays Will.
'We were neighbours 12 years ago and have stayed mates ever since,' she
explains.
But filming in Derbyshire has meant long absences from her second husband,
property developer Marek, and their nine-month old baby, Katherine. 'I miss them
very much but Marek's been a fantastic dad while I've been away,' says Shelagh
who met him five years ago at a dinner party and 'liked him straight away'.
It's a similar story to her on-screen romance which, reveals Shelagh, is more
than just a flash in the pan. 'There was a physical attraction between Will and
Kate from the start, a real chemistry whenever they met. They have a lot in
common, too. Like Will, Kate also has a broken marriage behind her and is scared
of committing to another person again. But they do fall in love. Being in the
same profession and at a similar age, there's a lot to draw them together.'
'And' hints Shelagh, 'as well as romantic developments, there's a real
cliff-hanger at the end of the series.'
