3 EPISODE 7 FAMILY TIES
Jack arrives home and is unable to get into the house. He has to
climb through the window. He arrives at The Beeches and greets a shocked Beth.
She apologises for the fact he couldn't get into the house, she lost the keys
and had to get the locks changed. She says she's a bit tied up right now as Will
has the day off. They resolve to meet for lunch.
Will persuades Janey to join him for a school function at Tony's school. She
doesn't really want to but Will explains that he is a family man and has to be
there.
Jack becomes involved in the plight of Nancy who has Huntington's disease. He is
concerned about her when she tries to take her life. Jack tracks down her sister
who hasn't visited Nancy for years because she is scared she too may have the illness.
Jack is alarmed when Nancy's sister reveals that Nancy has a son who doesn't
even know he's at risk from having Huntington's disease.
Will and Janey watch Tony play for the schools ruby team. Wills delight at
seeing Tony score a try turns to horror as there is a scuffle and the injured
boy turns out to be Tony. Will examines him and notices that there is a problem
with his neck. Tony is airlifted to hospital where Sarah soon arrives. There is
an obvious tension between she and Janey as they meet for the first time. Janey
leaves the hospital to look after Julien for Will.
Jack and Beth go for lunch. She asks him why he has come back. He says it is
because he missed her and everyday wished he could've shared the experience with
her. Beth is offended when Jack shows her the present he brought them back, an
African fruit meant to encourage fertility. He says a witch doctor gave it to
him and said if he was thinking about having kids he should hurry up and get on
with it. Beth says that having children isn't something they should just
'get on with'. Jack apologises for leaving how he did and says he is now sure
that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, she says she thought that
was something he decided when he married her.
JACK: I want to stay put now, here with you for the rest of
my life
BETH:
I thought that was something you decided when you married me. Will you have to
go on safari every year to remind yourself?
Will and Sarah wait at Tony's bedside and are thrown into chaos when Tony
tells them he can't feel his legs. Sarah tells Will that she thinks it would be
a good idea if she and the boys moved back in with him for a while until Tony
gets better, he reluctantly agrees much to Sarah's delight.
Jack finds Nancy's son and tells him that there is a 50% chance that he may have
Huntington's disease. He doesn't want to know and tells Jack to leave. Nancy's
sister and son meet. She explains to him how Nancy was made to give him up
because of her illness. Nancy's sister takes him to visit her in her home for
the first time.
Sarah tells Beth that she and Will are getting back together - Jack and Beth are
not convinced that it's for the best. Tony wakes up and tells Will he can feel a
pins and needles sensation in his legs. It appears he still has feeling in his
legs after all.
Will and Sarah head to the pub to celebrate with Beth, Chloe and James. Janey
arrives mid-celebration and tells Will that she is out of town for a few days.
Will arranges to see her when she gets back but she says no. She tells him she's
not ready to take on the family commitment that he brings him.
Beth asks Jack if he will go back to Africa. He says no, he's been there and
done it. Although he would like to take her there one day. Beth tells him that
she thinks their marriage can survive his odd trip to Africa but with
Children - it would be different. Seeing how unsettles she is Jack assures that
he loves her and wants to start a family with her - in Cardale.
JACK: I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with
you
BETH:
